Eugene Wilson
Eugene Wilson was incarcerated at the age of 17 and served 17 years in the North Carolina Department of Corrections. Upon his release in 2010, he started to volunteer for a Workforce Development agency. That position led to a paid grant-funded position as a program coordinator for a program designed specifically to assist men and women who were recently released from prison with soft skills and job training skills.
He then was hired for a case manager position with a local Workforce Development Board for adults and dislocated workers. Eugene now holds the position of Community Health Worker Supervisor for the NC-FIT program with Triad Adult and Pediatric Medicine (TAPM), a Federally Qualified Health Center in Guilford County.
The purpose of this program is to connect people being released from incarceration with needed health services including; physical health, mental health, and substance use disorder treatment. Clients are also assisted with other aspects of reentry such as housing, job training, legal needs, education, transportation, and life skills.
